She's From The World I Want To Live In

Visit Pave Your Lane

Katie Visco is truly an inspiration. This Sunday, March 29th, 2009 she's leaving Boston in a historic attempt to become the youngest female ever to start a solo run across America. One of her motivations in doing this is to INSPIRE and EMPOWER people all across this country to follow their passions and make a positive impact on the world. She will be stopping all along the way to speak with schools and community groups to share her story and show people that if you dedicate yourself, dreams do come true. All funds that are raised along this journey will go to “Girls on the Run”, an international not-for-profit organization that empowers young girls through running. Check out more on Katie’s web site or watch an interview with her below. http://www.paveyourlane.com/.

The Jena Six

Watch this video on YouTube

The story of the Jena 6 is being called a 'modern day lynching'. This story of blatant racism and injustice is reminiscent of civil rights era courtroom travesties. After watching this short video, please do all you can to help bring about justice.

And remember: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." - MLK, 1963

MeeVee

Check out MeeVee. At http://meevee.com you have access to what is essentially an online "super TV Guide." In addition to the television listings this site provides you with your personalized watchlist, bonus tv features through their downloadable MeeVcast, and Internet TV channels. What's best is that they require only a zipcode and an e-mail address (the rest isn't required).

To try it out go to http://www.meevee.com.

1. Enter your zipcode.
2. Select your television provider (this also includes cable, satellite, and antenna options).
*also includes a Bowdoin College option
3. You'll then go to a guest version of the site. Take some time to check it out.
4. Click on "Become a Member" on the top left corner and choose an e-mail and password.
5. Then you're done!

Downer: There are a few too many ads getting in the way.
Upper: There are some pretty dope internet tv channels.

My Picks for Internet TV Channels:
Adult Swim - Cartoon Network
AFTV - Classic Horror Movies
Alternative - Music Videos and Short Films
Bario 305 - Reggae Station
Motherload - Comedy Central
MTV Overdrive - MTV
Strawberry TV - Deep South Programming
The Click - The N: Nickelodeon for Teens

My Note: Though I don't currently have a television, if I did I would want to at least pre-plan the rotting of my brain - and this is a great tool to help you do it.

Protocols Of Zion

Watch The Entire Movie Here

Released in 2005, this documentary explores the resurgence of anti-Semitism both in America and throughout the world after the events of September, 11th 2001. The film itself hesitates to take a firm stance while it instead aims to broadcast the views of others. It gives voice to Holocaust survivors, Holocaust deniers, Israeli-Americans, Palestinian-Americans, white pride activists, Christians, and members of the international community, among others. Made by a Jewish-American film maker, this documentary doubles as his own personal journey. This film gives an interesting insight into the history and perseverance of anti-Semitism and proves particularly pertinent in light of the current Israel/Lebanon conflict.

An Inconvenient Truth

I was never very concerned about the threat of global warming and watching Al Gore for two hours was a big turn off. In spite of that, I saw An Inconvenient Truth this summer and it blew me away. This film showed very clearly what global warming is and how this global problem will only get worse with time. If we don't act soon as one people we will see drastic and disasterous consequences in our lifetime. We've already seen the beginning with increases in heatwaves, droughts, hurricanes, and tsunamis. Let's not see how it ends. It is with love for my family, my friends, and this world that I've come to be enjoy that I urge everyone to see this film.
